Thrifty Sustainability
First off, thank you so much for reading this and for visiting ThriftySustainability.net, Here is a little background information about Thrifty Sustainability…
I believe whole-heartedly in embracing a thrifty, low-cost lifestyle. The tools, techniques and ideas that you will find on this website have been learned, tried and tested as I’ve scrimped, budgeted and ‘got by’ over the years. I also believe that we each have a responsibility to live as sustainably as we can, adopting a low-impact lifestyle that aids the environment and all the species living on this planet, humans included.

Let’s all aim to be thrifty & thriving!
Before I started living thriftily, I was rather stupid. I had a cripplingly large, stressful and seemingly insurmountable debt. I had built up this debt through a combination of a failing business during the recession, being a gullible idiot paying for ex-boyfriends’ rent/bills/food and being a massive idiot by making a succession of stupid decisions and living way outside of my means for far too long.
It all came to a head when the interest that I was paying back, was more than I was earning and something had to give. I Joined a debt management program, changed my lifestyle completely, lived to a budget, embraced thrift and never looked back. Now 8 years later, I am completely debt-free and although I am on a very low income, I am thriving, thanks to the thrifty lessons learned.
I now plan to share many of the useful lessons that I’ve learned over the past 8 years, in the hope that it will help someone who is going through something similar. I know how it feels to dread the bills arriving in the post each morning and how it feels to have £1.50 to buy your food for the week. I hope I never feel like that again and I hope that I can help others to get out of debt and to live a frugal, thrifty life.
Let’s all aim to be thrifty and thriving!
I have built this website as a labour of love as I am recovering from a long-term illness and it has really helped me to find a focus and to feel useful again. As I recover, I am on a very low income and I am trying to create my own opportunities to bring a little money in once more. As well as writing articles about thrift and sustainability I will also, from time to time, include a link to a website or a book that I recommend and some of these links will earn me a few pence to a few pounds if you click through and place an order or buy a book. Please note, this will not make the product or book more expensive for you, it just means that the company or book company will give me a commission if I pass on a customer to them. This will help me to continue to run this website. So thank you in advance, if you do end up doing this.
When it comes to sustainability, I’ve always been interested in eco-friendly, sustainable solutions and have often wondered how to make low-impact living ideals more accessible. I hope that this website will address and explore these ideals and make them attractive for everyone.
Thanks again for reading and for all your support, I am so very grateful.
